Preface

Learning English and practicing English are quite different in Korea. We have

learned English as a school subject. But English is used as an important skills in the

global society. We have a lot of chances to meet many English speaking people here

and there. If we are not so good at communication skills in English, we face some

difficulties. We have to find the best possible way to develop our communication skills.

In order to achieve this goal, students and teachers should do something different

from book-based education. Students need to practice English as a language - not just

for school tests in Korea. The need to read a lot of sentences aloud and practice saying

them in conversational not only with their friends but also with naive English speakers.

In this course, students can find several different kinds of reading materials and

essays. I do hope the students will not stop at reading and understanding this book, but

also try to practice all materials with their friends and teachers. Try to play with the

sentences without worrying about mistakes or faults. Just try to read the sentences as

many times as possible untill you can read them very fast and fluently.

At last, you will find that you are able to read the sentences without watching every

single word and understand the sentences without translating into Korean. Then you

are ready to communicate in English. That is the real purpose of studying English and

it can keep you become an English speaking person. Try to keep this practice untill you

can use English as a communication tool.
